I had been looking for a geology book for the various parks in Utah ever since I first visited the state in 2009. Problem has been all of the books I've found have pictures in black & white. This is not much help to an amateur geologist when you are trying to match your book to what you're seeing in real life. I was very happy when I found this book because of the COLOR! I enjoy studying the various maps and reading about each formation and understanding what I am seeing on a macro scale. What seems so complex is pretty simple when you know what you're looking at. I've also found many places I've heard about, but never been able to locate, on other maps. All in all I have no complaints and am very satisfied with this purchase. My one caveat to others is you really need a basic geology textbook to understand many of the terms used in this book. After I bought this book I bought such a book and read it. Now the descriptions come to life for me. Truly an amazing amount of knowledge for the price! Thanks you to the authors.
